Note: Any views or information discussed or represented by a Jr. FF or Firefighter of the Mechanicville Fire Dept. is not necessarily the truth. Somethings may be left out or not explained properly. For this inconvenience I apologize. Thanks for your time and have a nice day!

In New York there is more to it than what has been mentioned...
-You must have a valid driver's license. Mommy driving you with the blue light going doesn't fly...
-The light is supposed to meet NYS Blue Light standards... 1 rotating bulb visible from 360 degrees and requires no more than 32 candle power. (Never followed. Not many know nor care)
-Bulb cannot be colored. The lense surrounding the buld must be blue. (Ops... Min is all LED)

As for my department, as long as you have a license and the chief approves it your good to go. They aren't very picky about the whole process.

They are big on not driving like an idiot w/your blue light being in use. Any complaints and either your capt. or chief will take away your card. You may get it back, you may not... depends on the incident.

There is more to it, but I am having difficulty remembering it off the top of my head...

Yeah, no offense md and zman, but you two bicker with each other way too much for my taste...more specifically, md, you attack z everytime he says something...I know he's just an explorer and they're fun to rag on, but there's no reason to be so hard on him...I agree with Joe that it should be taken up in pm's...
